Submission review process

The Editorial Team will consider the relevance of the material received and notify the author in a timely manner of the acceptance or rejection of the submitted material. The evaluation process of the articles will be carried out by external reviewers who are experts in the field, under a double-blind system, in which authors and reviewers are unaware of each other's identity and institutional affiliation.

External reviewers are selected based on their specialized knowledge of the subject matter to be evaluated. For this reason, they are generally teachers or researchers who have postgraduate studies and publications on the subject matter to be evaluated. Additionally, most reviewers have no institutional affiliation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile.

The article review and evaluation process is as follows:

1. All manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS platform using the “Submit Articles” option.

Once the article is received, it is first reviewed by the editors, who will assess its relevance to the journal's theme and call for papers, as well as its compliance with the formal requirements set out in the “guidelines for authors.” The editors may also request a pre-review of the article before sending it to peer reviewers if they detect any non-compliance with the formal requirements.

All articles received will be submitted to the Turnitin software for similarity detection, as well as for the detection of artificial intelligence use.

2. Once the formal aspects of the article have been reviewed, the editors will contact at least two external peer reviewers, who will evaluate the article under a double-blind system, in which neither the reviewer nor the author will know each other or have any information about their academic affiliation.

3. The evaluation will be based on the following points:

a. Evaluation of the content of the article or report.

  1. Relation of the title to the content.
  2. Originality and relevance of the content.
  3. Relevance of the content.
  4. Clarity and coherence in the organization of ideas and structure of the document.
  5. Consistency between the purpose of the study and the conclusions.
  6. Critical academic contribution.
  7. Timeliness and relevance of the bibliographic sources used.

4. The evaluators will indicate whether they recommend acceptance of the article, suggest modifications to the form or content for acceptance, or recommend rejection of the article.

5. In the event of a discrepancy between the peer evaluations, the editors will ask a third evaluator to join the process to decide on the acceptance or rejection of the article.

6. The editors will compile the evaluations of each article into a single document and send them to the respective authors, informing them of the reasons for acceptance or rejection, or whether modifications must be made to the document for it to be accepted and the deadlines for resubmission.

7. If the article is subject to corrections, the editors will receive the new version and verify compliance with the observations and suggestions made by the reviewers, consulting them if new questions arise regarding the article or if it is accepted.

8. By submitting contributions to the Revista de Derecho Económico, authors declare that they are aware of and accept the copyright conditions.

The entire evaluation process for an article submitted to the Revista de Derecho Económico usually takes between 12 and 14 weeks, from receipt to the evaluation decision.
